The existing residence, built in the 1870s, is located on the shores of Lac St-Louis and offers spectacular views.
The new owners wanted to modernize it in order to settle there with their two young children. The project consisted in completely redeveloping the existing house, decompartmentalizing the interior spaces by transforming them according to the needs of the users and piercing the walls and roofs to maximize natural light and views.
In addition to the complete transformation of the existing volume, the project includes a 3-level expansion to increase the living space and create a basement floor to house the owner's music studio. All façade and roof coverings will be replaced, as will the addition of insulation and the repair of all interior finishes.
The project was submitted to the Planning Advisory Committee of the City of Pointe-Claire and was favorably received.
The construction took place over a period of almost a year and was completed in October 2017.
